The year begins with the prospect of an improved health situation, following the reduction of barrier measures in several countries around the world. The pandemic, which unfortunately cost the lives of several million people around the world, seems to be subsiding and giving hope for a gradual return to normal life. Nevertheless, we could not start this new season without sending our warmest thoughts to those who have had to mourn the loss of a loved one. Our prayers and invocations will also be dedicated to the return of health for the sick and the restoration of justice and freedom for those who are deprived of them.

As feared, the year 2021 has seen the persistence of successive COVID-19 variants, with the resulting social and economic consequences. It is certain that the barrier measures introduced in many countries, such as distancing and quarantines, have changed our way of life in the professional and private spheres. Many of us feel the need for introspection, for a return to a spiritual path that the excessive consumer society has tended to minimise. More than ever, the essential questions linked to the meaning of existence and fulfilment are resurfacing, and favour a rapprochement with God.
